Financial Highlights

  • Q2 Subhash Projects & Mktg Q2 net profit up 23.16% Subhash Projects & Marketing Ltd., an integrated engineering company announced financial results for Q2 ended September 30, 2007. The company registered a jump of 23.16% in net profits, which increased to Rs12.39 crore from Rs10.06 crore in the corresponding period last year. EBIDTA rose by 26.58% to Rs27.33 crore from Rs21.59 crore in Q2, last fiscal. Net sales registered an increase of 18.05% rising to Rs228.61 crore from Rs193.65 crore in the same period last year. The half yearly results also witnessed a jump with sales rising by 56.13% and net profits soaring by 21.25%. EBIDTA increase for the period was 32.64%. The company would be restructuring on the basis of the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) concept based on recommendation from its advisory Ernst & Young. Through restructuring, SPML will be divided into five strategic units which will lead to greater focus on not only water management which is its core competence but also target enhanced growth in power and infrastructure which were being handled on a relatively smaller scale till date. Restructuring will bring into focus five key SBU’s which have been set-up for the purpose. The process of restructuring will give equal importance to five SBU’s namely infrastructure; power transmission and distribution; water; highway & roads; power generation and awards.
  • Q1 SPML revenues up 113% in Q1 Subhash Projects & Marketing Ltd., one of India’s largest integrated engineering companies announced its financial results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007. The company registered a 113% jump in revenues to Rs 237.98 crore from Rs 111.68 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. SPML has also recorded an increase in Net Profits to Rs. 13.74 crores from Rs. 11.49 crores in the corresponding period last year. The net profit in the previous year included an extraordinary income of Rs 7.09 crore.

Inflation hits 42-week high of 7.57%

Inflation rose to a 42-week high of 7.57 per cent in the 12 months to April 19, higher than the previous week’s annual rise of 7.33 per cent, largely on account of an increase in food, metal products and industrial fuel prices, official data showed. Analysts said that the inflation of 7.57 per cent was “slightly higher” than their expectations and this could be due to price increase in tea and certain items in the steel group. India’s wholesale price index (WPI) based inflation now stood highest since November 13, 2004, when it was 7.68 per cent. Economists expressed confidence that the recent fiscal and monetary measures would yield results in the coming weeks. They, however, noted that inflation was unlikely to return to the comfort zone of the Reserve Bank of India any time this fiscal. “There could be some easing of food inflation given the good wheat production and likelihood of good monsoon.
