L&T bags two orders worth Rs 2,155 cr

Larsen & Toubro today said it has received two orders worth Rs 2,155 crore from National Fertilisers Ltd (NFL) for converting the feedstock of ammonia plant to natural gas. The project involve changeover of the feedstock of the existing 900 tonnes per day (TPD) ammonia plant from fuel oil to natural gas, the company said. The scope of work includes process licence, engineering and construction of the plants. Both projects would be executed concurrently and are expected to be ready for commissioning by January-end 2013.

Dissapointing Q3 result for L & T, cuts full-year growth estimate

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced its third quarter results of FY10. The company's Q3 adjusted PAT (profit after tax) was up 15.21% to Rs 696 crore versus Rs 604.1 crore during the year-ago quarter. Net sales for the company were down 6% at Rs 8,071 crore versus Rs 8,594 crore. The company's Q3 numbers were below market expectation. L&T also cut down on its projected FY10 growth estimate, or guidance, to 10% from 15% earlier. It, however, re-iterated that order inflow for the full-year was still seen over 30%.

L&T bags Rs 6,897-cr Maharashtra State Power Generation (Mahagenco) order

Larsen & Toubro on Tuesday said it has bagged an order worth Rs 6,897 crore from Maharashtra State Power Generation (Mahagenco) for manufacturing turbine generator units. The company has received the order for manufacturing 3x 660 MW super-critical turbine generator units, L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, commissioning of super-critical boilers and civil and architectural work, the filing added.

L&T Q2 net profit up 26% at Rs 580 cr

L&T second quarter net profit jumped 26% to Rs 580 crore versus Rs 460.3 crore in same period of last year. Net sales went up 2.4% to Rs 7,866 crore as against Rs 7,682 crore, on year-on-year basis (YoY). Other income increased 64% to Rs 217.6 crore from Rs 132.8 crore. Operating profit margin (OPM) improved to 10% as against 8.8%, YoY.These numbers included proceeds of ready mix concrete (RMC) business. Interest expenses stood at Rs 131 crore versus Rs 81.3 crore. Numbers were not comparable due to sale of RMC business for Rs 275.2 crore in October 2008.

L&T bags Rs 966-cr metallurgical, water sectors order

Larsen & Tourbro’s metallurgical, material handling and water operating company, a part of its construction division, has secured Rs 966-crore order from Sterlite Industries India Ltd, Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and Gujarat Water Infrastructure Ltd. Of this Rs 966 crore, Rs 225 crore is from the metallurgical sector and Rs 741 crore is from the water sector. The company has secured Rs 225 crore from Sterlite Industries for the construction of 4 lakh TPA smelter plant at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. The Rs 488-crore order from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam is for implementing JNNURM (Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) scheme. The deal with Gujarat Water Infrastructure for Rs 253 crore is for implementing NC-24 Water Supply Scheme and is to be completed in 18 months

L&T bags Rs 1,513cr contracts

Engineering major Larsen & Toubro today said its building and factory construction division has received contracts worth Rs 1,513 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year. These contracts include construction of high rise tower, luxury hotel, hospital and factory building projects, the company said. The contracts further enhance the order book of the company, which had secured major design and build orders in airports, it added.

L&T bags Rs 2,000-cr order from GMR Energy

Larsen & Toubro has bagged a Rs 2,000-crore order from GMR Energy for setting up a 2x384 MW gas-based power plant at Vemagiri near Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. The work includes design, detailed engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the plant on a turnkey basis. L&T-Sargent and Lundy, a subsidiary of L&T, will carry out the plant integration and detailed engineering, using the propriety technology of Sargent and Lundy, US. L&T will design and manufacture critical equipment such as heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, switchgears and valves. The plant will have advanced class gas turbines and high efficiency steam turbines, which will be procured by L&T. Construction, installation, commissioning and project management will also be done by the company. The project is scheduled for completion in the 11th Plan. L&T set up a similar plant of 388.5 MW for GMR at the same location in 2006.

Jaypee Group, L&T ink Rs 4,000-croreThermal Power deal

Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JPVL), promoted by the $7-billion Jaypee group, has signed a Rs 4,000-crore agreement with Larsen & Toubro Ltd, the engineering and construction major, for supply of equipment for its Nigrie Super Thermal Power Project in Madhya Pradesh. Under the agreement, L&T will supply two units of 660 Mw each for the power plant. While the order for boilers for the plant has been given to L&T-MHI Boilers Pvt Ltd (LMBPL), the order for turbine and generators has been given to L&T which will source the equipment from L&T-MHI Turbine Generators Pvt Ltd (LMTGPL). Both LMBPL and LMTGPL are joint ventures between L&T and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan. This is the second order bagged by L&T in the supercritical segment in India after it won the order for supplying a 1,600 Mw turbine generator from the Andhra Pradesh Power Development Corporation earlier. L&T gets Rs 5,300-cr ONGC order

L&T has bagged two offshore platform contracts from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation for Rs 5,300 crore. The turnkey order is for a Mumbai High North (MHN) process platform and living quarters with an additional order for supply of three process gas compression modules to be installed in the same complex. It is scheduled for completion in 33 months. L&T said the order marks a milestone in its capabilities for such offshore hydrocarbon projects as it was among the largest and most sophisticated to be undertaken so far anywhere in the world. Over 80,000 tonnes of structures; process facilities and utilities would be erected on the high seas. The company would be responsible for survey, engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of the project.

L&T Q1 net zooms on UltraTech stake sale

Larsen & Toubro on Thursday reported a three-fold jump in its net profit at Rs 1,598.20 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, over the same period last year. The company had a net profit of Rs 502.44 crore in the same period ended June 2008, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The quarter includes exceptional gains of Rs 1,019.88 crore on sale of the company's long term investment in Ultra Tech Cement, the filing added. Total income rose to Rs 7,408.29 crore during the current quarter, against Rs 6,941.87 crore in the same quarter previous year.

L&T bags orders worth Rs 1,230 cr

Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has bagged six electrical project orders aggregating to Rs 1,230 crore in the domestic market. This includes four orders valued at Rs 1,031 crore for transmission line &railway construction, and two orders worth Rs 199 crore for the construction of sub-stations. These projects will be executed by Electrical & Gulf Projects Operating Company (E& GP OC) part of L&T’s Construction Division.

L & T Q4 net up 3.3%

Larsen & Toubro Ltd, on Thursday reported its March quarter net profit rose a better-than-expected 3.3 per cent on a strong order flow of infrastructure contracts. Net profit rose to Rs 9.99 billion ($209 million) in its fiscal fourth quarter ended March from Rs 9.67 billion a year ago, but was weighed down by a provision of Rs 1.85 billion for its investment in Satyam Computer Services. Net sales rose to Rs 104.7 billion from 84.7 billion.

L&T Oman unit bags three orders worth Rs 518.2 cr

Larsen & Toubro (Oman) LLC, a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro International FZE, has bagged three orders worth Rs 518.2 crore, Larsen & Toubro said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.     Larsen & Toubro International FZE (LTIFZE) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T). Larsen & Toubro (Oman) LLC (LTO) secured a Rs 207.4 crore order from the Rural Areas Electricity Company for construction, engineering and procurement of power substations and bagged Rs 206.1 crore order from the Oman Electricity Transmission Company for construction of power grid station, the work has to be executed in 18 and 15 months, respectively, the filing added.      The company has also bagged a Rs 104.7 crore order from the Oman Tourism Development Company for the construction of infrastructure for the second Asian Beach games. L&T expects 25-35% growth in order inflows this fiscal

Larsen and Toubro (L&T) said it anticipates a healthy growth rate of 25 to 35 per cent in its order inflows in the current financial year. “L&T anticipates healthy growth in its order inflows in the range of 25-35 per cent in FY 2009-10 even in this challenging environment,'' the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The company further said it has been investing in creati on of capacities and capabilities in areas which have good long-term prospects for value creation. These initiatives would enable the company to tap opportunities in several areas, including power and railways. Further, the infrastructure and hydrocarbon sectors are expected to continue their contribution to the order book, the company added. L&T bags Rs 345-cr order from NPCIL

Larsen & Toubro on Monday said it has received an order worth Rs 345 crore from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) for manufacturing and supplying steam generators. In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, L&T said it has bagged an order valued at Rs 345 crore from NPCIL for design, manufacture and supply of four steam generators for 700 megawatt electric (MWe) pressurised heavy water reactors. The steam generators would be supplied to the Kakrapar Atomic Power project, the filing added. These would be one of the largest steam generators built in the country so far, and would increase the size of the nuclear power project to 700 MWe from 540 MW e, the filing said. 

L&T eyes 30% rise in sales next fiscal

With a healthy Rs 68,000 crore order-book, the construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) today said it expects to maintain 30 per cent growth rate in sales in the next fiscal despite slowdown in the economy. "There will be sale growth of 30 per cent during 2008-09. We are confident that we will be able to maintain that for the next fiscal. That is our hope," L&T whole-time Director and President (Machinery and Industrial Products) J P Nayak told reporters on the sidelines of a CII conference. As on January-end, L&T is sitting on a hefty order-book for projects to be executed over the next two years. However, he said a lot will depend on the orders coming in the next few months. L&T bags Rs 1,162cr orders to build homes, factories

L&T 's Buildings & Factories Operating Co, a part of the construction division, has bagged orders worth Rs 1,162 crore in the fourth quarter of 2008-09, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The company has received a Rs 605-crore order from Andhra Pradesh Rajiv Swagruthu Corp for construction of township flats in Hyderabad. The project is to be completed in two years. L&T has also received major orders aggregating to Rs 557 crore for the construction of cement plants and other strategic factory buildings. The cement plant construction orders have been received from major players like KCP and Lafarge India Pvt Ltd. The project is scheduled to be completed in 15 months.

L&T bags Rs 1,438cr power projects; two in gulf

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, L&T said it has secured a Rs 800-crore order from Al Ain Distribution Co for the construction of seven electrical substations and overhead transmission line in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of UAE. Under the contract terms, L&T will design and build electrical substations under the specifications of the international consultant PB Power, in two years. Further, the engineering firm has also bagged a Rs 330- crore order from Abu Dhabi Distribution Company for augmentation and expansion of a 33-kV power transmission network in the gulf country. Back home, L&T secured another power project worth Rs 308-crore from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company for a rural electrification project in the state. The company would develop the rural electrification works in Jalpaiguri and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal, it said.

L&T third quarter net zooms to Rs 1,520 cr

Larsen & Toubro on Friday reported a three-fold surge in profit after tax at Rs 1,520.44 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008. The firm had a PAT of Rs 481.79 crore in the December quarter of FY'08, L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. The total income rose 35 per cent to Rs 8,615.59 crore during the third quarter of the current fiscal, from Rs 6,387.99 crore in the same period last fiscal. During the quarter, the engineering major had an extra-ordinary gain of Rs 916 crore from the sale of company's Ready-Mix-Concrete (RMC) business. “Despite the best efforts of the government to shore up the investment climate, the capital goods industry is expected to grapple with the impact of slowdown, which is likely to continue through 2009-10,'' L&T said. L&T's construction division bags Rs 1,450 cr order

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) newly formed Building & Factories Operating company, a part of its construction division, has bagged large value orders aggregating around Rs 1,450 crore in the third quarter of 2008-09 for the construction of IT and office space building including add on orders from on going work at its airport projects.The orders for construction of the above said have been received from major players such as Tata Consultancy Services and Godrej Developers. L&T had bagged Rs 2,460 crore order from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for constructing the monorail project in the city last month. The company in association with Malaysia-based Scomi Engineering would build the 20-km monorail in 30 months.
