The annual Wholesale Price Index-based inflation rose 12.10 per cent during the week ended August 30, below the previous week’s annual rise of 12.34 per cent, Government data showed on Thursday.
The annual inflation rate was 3.72 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year. During the latest reported week, the official WPI for All Commodities rose ended at 240.8 points, up from 240.3 points for the previous week.
On a disaggregated basis, the Primary Articles group rose by 0.3 per cent to 249.2 points as the index for the Food Articles group rose by 0.2 per cent due to higher prices of bajra (3 per cent), urad and arhar (2 per cent each) and jowar and fruits and vegetables (1 per cent each). However, the prices of maize and condiments and spices (1 per cent each) declined.
